Kyle Boyd (Willoughby) won the overall championship with rounds of 77-71=148. His second-round 71 was very impressive. He parred #1, doubled the par 4 #2, then he was 2 under for the next 16 holes. He birdied 15 & 16 and parred all the rest. Great playing! Jack Watson (Chagrin Falls) had 5 birdies on the Weiskopf course in round 2 to finish 2nd with 79-73–152. Marcus Berrios (Concord) and Ethan Olszowy (Avon) tied at 163 and after a scorecard playoff to decide ties under the USGA method, Ethan won 3rd place with the lower back nine score on the final round.
Wren Spires (Medina) had 78-82–160 to win the Boys 15 and under division. Wren had 6 birdies over the 36-hole competition. Lincoln Miller (Concord)was 2nd with 80-85–165. Aiden Curtis (Mentor) was 3rd with 83-87–167.
Elena Varga (Hudson) wins the Girls 19 & Under division with 82-79–161.Elena had a strong finish playing the last 5 holes 1 under par. She eagled the par 5 15th in the stretch. Macey McGhee (Independence) was 2nd with 89-87–176.
Preston Tolnar (Canfield) had a 38-40–78 on the Weiskopf course from 5,800 yards at age 10 (shown in the champions photo above). Preston made the finals of the 2024 Drive, Chip & Putt. The finals are hosted annually at the Augusta National in conjunction with the The Masters Tournament. He has already made it through the first stage of qualifying for 2025 and hopes to make it back to Augusta National again next year.
