The Northern Ohio PGA hosted the Firestone Junior Cup at the Fazio Course at Firestone Country Club for the fourth consecutive year, in conjunction with the Kaulig Companies Championship. Eight teams from around Northern Ohio were invited to participate in a day filled with activities.
The day started with a short game clinic led by Glenmoor Country Club Head Professional, Meg Glass-Stem, PGA, and followed by a Q&A session with PGA TOUR Champions Member, Chris DiMarco.
Following the clinic, the juniors took to the course to apply their newly acquired skills in a nine-hole game. The format of the day was a two-person scramble with four teams, totaling eight players, with three of four scores counting towards an aggregate score.
The competition culminated with a shootout between the teams with the lowest aggregate scores from the front and back nines. Red Tail Golf Club and Medina Country Club tied at 125 on the front nine. Red Tail Golf Club advanced to the shootout after using the fourth score as a tiebreaker. On the back nine, Jimmy Beers Golf emerged victorious with a score of 116, narrowly edging out Westfield Country Club, which scored 117.
In the shootout, all players from each team alternated shots from seventy-two yards into the eighteenth green on the Fazio Course. Mason Dillon from Jimmy Beers Golf hit the winning shot, securing their team’s victory for the second year in a row.
