Brian Smith (Oberlin Golf Club) and Ryan Stefanski (Sleepy Hollow Golf Course) claimed a Foursomes victory in the Championship Division at Pine Hills Golf Club, posting the only round under par for the day. The duo worked well together in the alternate shot format: they made the turn at 1-under par with three birdies against two bogeys. They made another birdie at the tenth, but then Smith and Stefanski went double bogey/bogey to give it all back. They rallied with birdies at 14 and 17 to bring them to their winning total of 1-under par 71.
In the Senior Division, Allen Freeman (NOGA Club E) and Mark Borlin (Silver Lake Country Club) played solid team golf to hold off the other duos in the division. On the front nine, the pair was +2 after scoring bogeys on holes 2 and 8. They made up for it early on the back by adding two birdies to the scorecard on holes 10 and 12. From there they played par golf until the 18th, where they finished the round with a bogey, giving them the lowest score in the Senior Division at +1 (73).
The next event on the NOGA Great Lakes Auto Scratch Series calendar is the Four-Ball #2 at Belmont Country Club in Perrysburg on Thursday, July 18th.
