Finally, Mother Nature gave way to a wonderful day of golf for the Zoar Spring 2-Man Scramble on Saturday.
On a perfect day for scoring, no team ran a way and hid; half the field finished with a score between 63 and 66. After the dust settled, two teams came out on top tied at 9-under par 63.
The Saint Clairsville area team of Andrew Strope and Blake Ringfish earned co-first place honors along side the Canton and Westlake father/son duo of Bill and Evan Jenkins.
Another two teams finished one shot back with 8-under par 64. The Pittsburgh team of Paul Ajak and Ryan Fichter matched the Massillon/Fairlawn team of Adam Arman and Shaun Kloetzer for T3.
Then a herd of teams earned the final spots in the money with a 7-under par score of 65.
Three skins were won on the day, each with an eagle on a par 5: on the par-5 7th (Pork-Chinn), on the par-5 12th (Arman-Kloetzer), and on the par-5 14th (Ajak-Fichter).
Next on the schedule, Zoar Golf Club has two events in May: on May 7th is the Zoar Senior Masters 2-Man Scramble, followed at the end of the month with the two-day, 36-hole Zoar Memorial on May 28th- 29th. Get your entries in soon!
