Zoar Golf Club hosted the Senior Masters 2-Man Scramble on Saturday for players age 60+. 16 teams competed, with the team of Barry Riggs and Frank Groves emerging as the winners by two strokes after posting a 9-under par 63 (31-32).
Three teams tied for second at 7-under par 65: Doug Rockich + Mark Thomas (33-32) John Dunn + Mark Tomasina (31-34) and Mark Ciccarello + Raul Mendozza (32-33).
The excitement of the day was the canceled skin pot. Everyone was patting Raul Mendozza on the back for hitting it to about 4 feet on the par 5 7th and taking the entire skin pot, that is until the very last group of Greg Taylor + Zoran Karic dropped an eagle of their own to chop the entire pot.
On a side note just about every group gave compliments to Zoar Village Golf Club in how great of condition the course was in following almost two inches of rain the twelve hours prior to the tournament. So hats off to Zoar’s superintendent Eric Crone and his crew for keeping the place in the shape it’s known for.
