Ryan Culbertson from Wooster Country Club and Howard Clendenin from Firestone Country Club won the Open and Senior Divisions of the NOGA Tournament of Champions on Monday at Brookside Country Club.
The T of C is an invitation-only event for the current club champions of the member clubs of the Northern Ohio Golf Association.
Culbertson shot a 1-under par 70, winning by four strokes.
Pretty easy and pretty stress free,” Culbertson said about his round. “Three birdies and two bogeys and really never got myself in too much trouble. Just kept it in front of me and kept it below the hole.”
Josh Clay (Shady Hollow Country Club) and Adam Thomarios (Firestone Country Club) finished tied for second place at 3-over par.
In the Senior Division, Clendenin shot an impressive round of 4-under par 67.
“I got off to a good start,” Clendenin said. “Birdies on one and two out of the gate. Really just kept it in play, struck it well and made some putts.”
Clendenin was 4-under par walking to the 14th tee, but went bogey-double bogey on 14 and 15. He righted the ship with three straight birdies to finish his round, recording seven birdies in total.
Roy Beres (Stonewater Golf Club) finished in second place with a 3-under par 68.
