Zoar Golf Club hosted its annual Senior Amateur Championship on Sunday afternoon. The tournament held competition in three divisions, by age bracket.
Frank Groves from Louisville captured the 70+ division. His 4-under par 68 featured a front nine of 32 strokes. Paul Gordon (Dover), Jim Tarter (Akron) and Terr Szwast (Akron) all tied for second place money at even par 72. Past champions Tom Stack and John Sibila along with Alex Dottavio, were all one stroke out of the money after shooting 73. There were 5 skins paying $26 each.
Randy Crider from Brunswick has won again at Zoar. His 69 was one stroke better than last year’s winner to claim the 60+ division. The 2020 champion Dave Peck, (Macedonia) posted the same score again this year: a 2-under par 70. Six players were tied for third place with 1-under par: Mark Borlin (Stow), Barry Riggs (No. Canton), Matt Timmons (Shaker Heights), Bruce Dean (Portage Lakes), George Allen (Champion) and Scott Ginnert (Newton Falls) all shot 71. There were 4 skins paying $80 each.
Dean Cutlip captured the Champions Trophy for the 50+ players. He went out in 32 strokes and played the back even par to finish at 68, beating Dave Trier (Stow) by 3 shots. Bill Jenkins (Canton) and John Jadgchew (Parma) tied for third place money at even par 72. There were 5 skins paying $24 each.
