Making full use of the variable-tees-by-age rules, brothers Jeff Dean and Bruce Dean won the June Valley of the Eagles 2-Player Scramble on Saturday in Elyria.
With both men playing from the white tees for players over age 65, the duo shot a sterling 11-under par 61 to beat three runner-up teams by a single shot.
But the big winners on the day were Matt Niskey + Seve Barcarbel (pictured above), who won the only skin of the day on the difficult par-3 16th. All of the short par-5 holes were covered with eagles, so when Niskey won the pin shot there then converted the lone birdie putt on that hole, they earned a tidy haul of $1,140 — plus $100 for the pin shot…
