RESULTS: 2020 Twin Lakes Spring 2-Man Scramble

The Fairways at Twin LakesThree teams finished in a tie for first place on Sunday at The Fairways at Twin Lakes 2020 Spring 2-Man Scramble.

On a cool and blustery end-of-May day that felt like March, the pairings of Steve Blackburn Jr. and Jimmy Wild, Tommy Miano and Cody Nickson, and Brian Smith and Ryan Stefanski each finished at 9-under par 61.

Smith and Stefanski raced out to a 29 on the front side and were 8-under par after 11, but could only manage one more birdie coming home.

Miano and Nickson started with a solid 30 on the front nine, birdied the holes required on the back, then closed with a birdie at the last.

Blackburn and Wild finished their day with a great back nine, making birdie at four of their final five holes to post an inward 30.

Those three teams each earned $475 for their efforts.

But the big winners on the day were Danny Terry and Martin Nesic.

Because the nine-hole Twin Lakes layout is played twice from different tees during scramble events, they offer a big pot for Double Skins by adding together the scores from the two plays of each hole by each team.

Danny Terry made birdie-2 TWICE on his own ball on the eighth hole on Sunday. The first time through from 139 yards, Terry hit his tee shot to 10-feet below the hole and drained the uphill right-to-lefter. That set the stage for the big-money second birdie from 149 yards: from his tee shot which settled 15-feet away pin-high, Terry swooped in a big breaker for the big winner.

The Terry/Nesic team shared the 18-hole skins pot with Mitch Levengood and Kevin Miller, as they were the only two teams to make birdie-2 on the 17th hole, and there was no outright skin winner on the day.

Terry/Nesic was the only team to double-birdie 8/17, and all of the other Double Skin holes were tied off.

So for their half-share of the 18 hole skins pot and their sweep of the Double Skins pot, Danny Terry and Martin Nesic walked away with a tidy $1,595. A nice day!

Thank you to Bryan Harvey and the rest of the staff at The Fairways at Twin Lakes for a well-run event on one of the truly fun golf courses in the region.

Teams will return again in the Fall for another 2-Man Scramble at The Fairways, currently scheduled for October 10th
