It was a two-way tie at the top of the scoreboards in both the Championship and Senior Divisions, as the Northern Ohio Golf Association visited Brookside Country Club in Canton for the 2020 Fall Stroke Play as part of the Great Lakes Auto Scratch Series.
CHAMPIONSHIP DIVISION
In the Championship Division, Don Padgett III (above) and Michael Klaric III both shot 2-over par 73 to share the win. Padgett birdied the last, and Klaric had a chance to do the same to win outright from 12 feet at the 18th. He hit a great putt with perfect pace that looked to be going in for the victory. But agonizingly, the putt caught the left edge and spun out of the right side:
Four players finished tied for third place with a score of 74: Chris Okeson, Josh Clay, Barry Cohn and Ryan Dorff.
SENIOR DIVISION
Tom Jereb (above) overcame a double-bogey at the testy par-4 ninth hole by posting a 2-under par inward nine to tie with Tom Skidmore for the Senior Division title.
Skidmore made birdie at three of his final five holes to match the 71 of Jereb. The pair finished three shots ahead of Monty Guest and Ed Marsinek.
ON TO THE TOUR CHAMPIONSHIP
The Fall Stroke Play marks the end of the NOGA Great Lakes Auto Scratch Series regular season. After updating the Player of the Year points lists with the earnings from this event, the top 24 players in each division earn the right to compete in the Great Lakes Auto Tour Championship at Firestone West and South this coming Sunday and Monday.
