On a chilly day with swirling winds that were tough to figure, John Svadba and Ron Skirpstas made birdie on six of their last seven holes to streak past the rest of the field in the 2019 The Fairways at Twin Lakes Fall 2-M Scramble.
Shooting a 29 on the back nine, their score was three shots better on the inward half than any other team and a 63 total. The pair also won a skin with a birdie on the 16th hole to pad their winnings.
John Toth and Tyler Watkins finished in second place, two shots back at 65. They also grabbed a skin with a birdie at the 9th hole.
The Fairways at Twin Lakes near Kent was in spectacular condition, and the nine hole layout was set up perfectly with some tough-but-fair hole locations for a fall scramble. Play the first time around was from the white tees, and from the blue tees the second time through. Playing the course twice allows for the unique feature of a Double-Skins pot, where the two scores from a hole are added together.
Jonathan Riemer and Jonathan Keppler were the big skins pot winners. The pair made an eagle-3 on the par-5 12th hole for one of three skins won on the day, and they made twice made birdie on the challenging par-4 fourth hole to sweep the entire Double-Skins pot.
