One of the season’s hottest players and a talented newcomer paired to tie a scoring record in the 2019 Turkeyfoot Fall 2-Man Jumble in Akron on Saturday.
Lyndhurst’s Chris Okeson, who currently leads the NOGA Player of the Year race and has played winning golf all summer long, paired with new Sand Ridge Club member Conner Pratt, formerly a star at UAB and on the AJGA back in the day, to win by a whopping five shots at 14-under par.
Their total 27-hole score of 92 tied the record low mark, a number also shot by Jeff Mallette and Mike Kracker back in 2010 (where they won by 7 shots, the largest margin of victory).
On their winning march, Okeson and Pratt shot a stunning 7-under par 29 in the Scramble format on the tough front nine at Turkeyfoot, taking that segment by two shots. They followed that with the second best score in the Better Ball format at 5-under par 30. Then they cruised home to victory in a tie for the third best score in Alternate Shot with a 33, punctuating the victory with an eagle-3 at the last.
Josh Prok and Zach Drukenbrod finished in second place with a score of 97 after getting off to a slow start in the Scramble format at just 2-under par. But a 4-under par score in the Better Ball format and 3-under par in the Alternate Shot segment boosted them into a nice pay day that included a ‘least tied’ skin.
