The 2019 North Coast Junior Tour’s JR-4AM field enjoyed a wonderful day at Sand Ridge Golf Club in Chardon, Ohio on July 15, 2019. The course played fast and the greens were perfect: firm and fast.
In the Junior Division, Antonio Bodziony led the way with 36-34–70 (-2) to beat Nick Longano by one stroke. Antonio had four birdies and two bogeys on the day. Nick was 2 under with 4 to play, but had a wild finish. He bogeyed the next three, then made eagle on his final hole for 35-36–71. Jake Caldwell finished 3rd with 40-37–77 (+5). Jake only had two bad holes that cost him 5 shots (a double #11 and a triple #8), he was even par on the other 16 holes.
In the Team Division, the Rush Team squeezed out a one stroke victory over the two time defending champions, the Tomazic Team. The Rush team shot 27-29–56 (-16) and the team included Aubrie Rush (Junior), Ken Rush, Dan Rush (NCJT Hall of Fame member), Dennis Rush and Rob Murphy. The team used a Junior Rescue Ticket (a junior mulligan shot) to have Aubrie try the final putt from 12 feet after the entire team missed it. She made the putt to seal the win! What a great finish!
The big finale at Jr-4AM is when the Denny Spaulding Memorial Golf Scholarship winners are announced. This year the scholarship awarded two winners were:
