Stover, Roberts and Nelson are Match Play Champs
Bentley Stover defeated Danny Milo to capture the 2018 North Coast Junior Tour’s Jim Dawson March Play Championship at Punderson Golf Course on Wednesday, June 27th in the Boys 16-19 division. It was an incredible match on a rainy morning with a steady drizzle for most of the 2 hour and 30 minute match.
The fireworks started early, as Milo rolled in a birdie on #2 and Bentley topped him to tie the hole. Bentley also birdied #3 and #4 to go 2-up, with the birdie on #4 a bomb from over 30 feet. Bentley parred out the rest of the front 9 and was 4 up at the turn. He birdied #10 to go 4 under on his round and 5-up in the match. Then Milo won #11 and #12 with pars and birdied #13 to get back to 2-down. Milo 3 putted #14 to 3-down. Bentley went to the 16th with a 3-up lead and birdied it for a 4&2 win over the battling Milo.
Congratulations to Bentley on winning the Boys 16-19 Match Play Championship in back-to back years.
Nora Nelson had herself a day. Nora defeated the number 1 seed Ella Wong, 4&3. Nelson beat Olivia Zampedro in the semifinals 5&3 to advance to the championship.
Ethan Roberts defeated Jack Stover in the finals match 2&1 to become the Boys 14-15 Champion. Roberts defeated Jackson Fellinger in the morning round 4&3.
