The weather cooperated and the golf course was in fantastic condition as the Zoar Village Golf Course held its Spring 2-Man Scramble on Saturday, April 26.
A field of 34 teams competed in the tournament, and two teams came out tied at the top.
Michael Renner and Andy Slaman tied the team of Preston Robinette and Joey Kurtz for first place at solid score of 8-under par 64, with each team earning $250.
They were followed by the teams of Matt Gasser and Steve Cunningham, who tied with Mike Simpson and Aaron Crewse for third place at 7-under par 65 and $160 per team.
On the strength of a hole-out eagle 2, Eric and Billy Crone finished alone in fifth place, one stroke back, $130.
Shane Nelapa and Eric Vought were in sixth with a score of 67, $120.
Four teams tied seventh place at 4-under par, good for $50 per team: Allen Freeman and Mark Borlin, Tom and Ethan Doon, Mark Johnson and Jon Jadgchew, and Randy Gonter and Brad Haynes.
There were three skins won on the day, each worth $213:
– a birdie on the tough par-3 fourth hole by Mark Johnson and Jon Jadchew;
– an eagle-2 holed from 73 yards by Billy Crone from Eric‘s tee shot on seventeen (pictured right);
– and a hole-out on eighteen by the team of Nicely and Frank.
Zoar Village Golf Club will host its 36-hole individual stroke play Zoar Memorial Tournament next, on May 23-24.
