Zoar Village Golf Course hosted the 36-hole Yuengling Tuscarawas County Championship this weekend. This amateur event is open to anyone that lives or works in Tuscarawas County, with Saturday’s score flighting the competitor in one of three divisions.
When regulation play ended Sunday afternoon Eric Crone and Wes Gilland stood at 3 over par and needed one more hole to determine the 2015 Champion. Crone birdied the first playoff hole to claim the title of Champion Golfer. Both players were under par on the back nine with Gilland’s even par 72 the best score of the tournament. Crone also claimed the Yuengling Light Long Drive title on Friday evening with a tee shot of 303 yards.
Kris Moran, who was tied with Crone for the first round lead, came in third place just two strokes off the pace. Andy Rimer and Aaron Shanklin tied for fourth at 151.
John Perkowski claimed the Second Flight Trophy with a two day total of 158. His final round of 77 separated him from the charge of Tyler Watkins and Rob Sattler, who each carded 161. Dave Barton was fourth at 162. Dave Miller and Matt Bitikofer were tied 5th at 164.
The Third Flight saw some very nice comeback scores on Sunday. Zach Christman bounced back from Saturday’s 86 with a two over par 74 to win the Trophy. Adam Graham had a 90-76 to claim second place. Scott Sole, the 2014 champ, was third at 168. The trio of Scott Reifenschneider, Justin Huth and Lainard Gray were all tied fourth at 172.
