Mark Evans of Peninsula, OH won the National Car Rental Northern Ohio PGA Assistant Championship presented by COBRA PUMA GOLFTuesday, September 3 at Country Club of Hudson in Hudson, Ohio.
“These 36 holes today were my all-time low at -10. Everything came together and I just had a solid round.” said Evans the Assistant at Beechmont Country Club. “On the 36th hole, I had about a five footer left for birdie, and standing over that putt, I thought I would need to get to double digits to win it.”
By winning, Evans qualified for the 37th National Car Rental PGA Assistant Championship presented by COBRA PUMA GOLF, October 31-November 3, at The PGA Golf Club (Wanamaker Course) in Port St. Lucie, Fla. The facility will be hosting its eighteenth consecutive PGA Assistant Championship.
Evans 38, posted a final-round 69 for a tournament total of 134 and a one stroke victory over Jim Troy of Elyria, OH.
Craig Burrows claimed the final spot.
The 126-man field for this year’s 37th edition of the PGA Assistant Championship consists of the Top 4 players from last year’s Championship, if eligible, and assistants from a weighted average of total entries of the 41 PGA Sections.
The winner of the 37th National Car Rental PGA Assistant Championship presented by COBRA PUMA GOLF earns $9,000 out of the purse of $100,000. The top-70 finishers after the second round, including ties, will make the cut.
