Hansen + Waitrovich Lead NOPGA Opening Better Ball
A round of 5-under 67 under ideal conditions on Monday gave the team of Jaysen Hansen and Tom Waitrovich the first-round lead of the first event of the Northern Ohio Professional Golfers Association’s 2024 season.
With seven birdies and two bogeys Hansen, head professional at Toledo Country Club, and Waitrovich, a PGA Life Member after a distinguished career as head pro at Lakewood Country Club, have a one-shot lead in the Pro-Pro Premier at Firestone Country Club, in a better ball format.
Westwood Country Club head professional Mark Scott Jr. and partner Jim Troy, an instructor at The Golf Dome, are second at 4-under 68 and the team of Portage Country Club head professional Adam Lewicki and PCC assistant Tyler Peterson are third at 3-under 69.
The opening round was played on the North Course with Tuesday’s final round being played on the South with an 8:30 a.m. start.
