Balcar, Moss are First-Round Leaders at The Country Club
Brandywine assistant professional Michael Balcar and Rob Moss, long-time head professional at the Pepper Pike Club, are the Division leaders after the first round of the 22nd Mitchell-Haskell Tour Championship at The Country Club.
Balcar, the reigning Ohio Open champion, leads the Championship Division after an opening 34-34-68, 4-under par.
Moss, a two-time winner of the Championship Division, leads the Senior Division at 2-under par 34-36-70. Moss, 55, is entered in both divisions and stands second to Balcar, two shots behind.
Three-time champion Jim Troy, teaching and fitting professional at the Golf Dome, and Mark Sierak, co-owner of Optimus Golf in Solon, share third place in the Championship Division, three shots back.
Moss, winner of this event in 2012 and 2017, holds a one-shot lead over Club Walden Director of Golf and 2003 champ Mitch Camp (37-34-71).
Six players, including two-time champion and Beechmont head professional Jaysen Hansen, share fifth place in the Championship Division at even-72.
Recent Toledo Open Senior Division champion Mike Stone (Belmont Country Club) stands alone in third place in the Senior Division at even-par 72 and three players –- PGA Life Members Gary Trivisonno and Tom Waitrovich and 1899 Golf teaching pro Tony Adcock – are three shots back.
The final round begins Tuesday at 9 a.m. with the leaders expected to go off at 11:20 and 11:30. ROUND 2 STARTING TIMES >
