After a difficult day on a firm and fast golf course, there are only two players who are sitting better than par in the Northern Ohio PGA’s 2020 Mitchell-Haskell Tour Championship at The Country Club in Pepper Pike.
In the Championship Division, Jim Troy finished with a 68 (-4) and a total of five birdies including his final two holes of the day. He leads Jake Scott by five shots.
In the Senior Division, Gary Rusnak carded a 70 (-2) after a round with four birdies. Rusnak leads by three shots over Tom Atchison and Steve Parker.
Round two is scheduled to begin tomorrow morning at 8:55 a.m.
The Mitchell-Haskell Tour Championship was named after two men from Northeast Ohio. In 1898, Coburn Haskell, a retired businessman, who invented the rubber golf ball. He then took the ball to The Country Club and asked the club professional at the time, Joe Mitchell, to hit it.
