As the only player to match par on a windy Saturday, Chris Okeson of Lyndhurst has taken the first round lead at the 2020 Chippewa Championship in Doylestown.
Playing early in the day through an occasional drizzle, Okeson played about 10 holes when it was a bit more calm, before the high, gusty winds kicked in for the remainder of the day.
The greens were saturated from two days of heavy rains as well, leaving players guessing as to how the ball would react throughout the day.
Reinstated am HJ Wenger faced the brunt of the wind playing in the second-to-last group of the day, and posted a 72 to trail by one.
Bobby Harmon and Ryan Stefanski shot 73, with a host of players at 74 and 75.
Should be a barn-burner for the finale tomorrow, as the sun will shine, the wind is forecast to be light, and the greens will begin to firm up. STARTING TIMES >
