PREVIEW: 2021 NOGA Tournament Season

Mark your calendar, as the 2021 tournament season of the Northern Ohio Golf Association is about to open for business!

The NOGA online tournament registration system opens this coming Monday, April 12 for the Flighted Series, then the following Monday, April 19 for the Great Lakes Auto NOGA Scratch Series. Entries for the first event of the expanded Women’s Series will open on April 28. The Toledo District events opened on April 1st for that entire series.

NOGA will continue its use of rolling opening dates for submitting entries, with fields opening for each event about three weeks in advance of that event’s date of play.

Entry deadlines close seven days before the tournament. But if you wait until the entry deadline, expect to be shut out frequently — you just can’t wait that long. Watch the calendar and get signed up early, as fields sell out quickly for NOGA events – sometimes on the same day they open!

The entry fee for each tournament is typically $105 per player, which is an incredible deal given the roster of clubs on the schedule. There is an additional fee to join in as a qualifier for any of the season-long match play events.

Most of the events of the Scratch and Flighted Series begin at 9 a.m. with play going off of two tees. A few events will start at 8:30 or even 8 a.m., with play starting off of a single tee. The Women’s events will start later in the day off of one tee.

To compete in any NOGA event, a player must be an active NOGA member with a USGA GHIN handicap. GHIN membership can be obtained as a member of a private golf club, at the pro shops of many public courses, or by joining the NOHIO.GOLF Club right here on this website.

GREAT LAKES AUTO NOGA SCRATCH SERIES

This event series bring top-level competition to NOGA’s most talented players. A GHIN Handicap Index® of 5.4 or less is required for entry. Divisions include Open (all ages), Senior (55+) and Super-Senior (65+). Player of the Year points are awarded from each event to earn a spot in the season-ending Tour Championship, played in September at Firestone Country Club.

The Great Lakes Auto NOGA Scratch Series will visit a host of great clubs in 2021: Elyria, Westwood, Congress Lake, Tippecanoe, Barrington, Canton Brookside, Oberlin, Firestone and The Country Club. REGISTRATION >
