For 2013, I will assume the ‘league secretary’ duties from Eric McKinney, who moved to Columbus at the end of last season. Of course, Kevin Larizza remains as League Commissioner!
On Monday, April 29th we will run an informal individual $20 skins game on the front nine as a warm up night, to give everyone an opportunity to come out, get your team signed up for the season and pay your league dues.
After that, the league begins! The format for the first night of the league on May 6th will be a scramble on the back nine. As in the past, players may tee off any time between 3:30 – 6 p.m. to compete. The 2-man event formats will continue to include better ball, scramble, shamble and the always challenging aggregate score, but a couple possible new formats we may throw into mix this year are a Stableford and a true alternate shot!
This year’s league dues will remain the same as last year at $165, which covers the weekly merchandise prizes and food nights. Those league dues must be paid before the second week of the season (and preferably before the start of the season)! Greens fees each week will be $22 with cart (or $15 walking). During check in, an optional $10 per player team skins game and $5 per player team side pot game are available. VIP Cards are valid for scratch league greens fees only.
To enter the 2013 Chippewa Monday Scratch League, teams should call the Pro Shop at 330-658-6126, email us, or stop in and get signed up. A few slots are available for new teams this season, but space is limited and it’s first-come/first-in with priority given to past participants.
SPECIAL NOTE FOR THE EARLY $50 SKINS GAME: Once again in 2013, Chippewa Golf Club welcomes players to participate in our weekly $50 Monday Skins Game league-day warm up! (Pros are also eligible to play in this early skins game also, but their entry fee is $100.) HOWEVER for this season, we must remind everyone that the $50 skins game tees off ONLY from 11:45 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Players must tee off within this time frame — NO EXCEPTIONS — as we are booking public play immediately following that last 12:30 time. If you are late you may join the game in progress, but only if there is an open slot in one of the groups on the course and knowing the you do not get the opportunity to make up the holes you missed. Remember, greens fees for the $50 skins game are just $28 with a cart, and those that play in the $50 game do not have pay additionally for the league nine greens fees — so that’s 27 holes for only $28 bucks! That makes Monday at Chippewa the best competitive golf deal in the area!
All of us at Chippewa Golf Club look forward to seeing the players for the 2013 season warm up on April 29th, then for the start of league on May 6th! And watch Northeast Ohio Golf for complete league results and standings every week!
