The Historic Tanglewood Club, a property with a rich history as a former private golf club and the host of the 1972 PGA Tour’s Cleveland Open, is set to embark on an exciting new chapter following its recent acquisition by a group led by Scott Pollock from Chagrin Falls.

Pollock takes over from Mark Tiefel and Warren ‘Renny’ Wolfson. During their 15-year tenure, Tiefel and Wolfson were instrumental in preserving the legacy of Tanglewood. “We are honored they have selected our team to steward this important community asset into the future,” said Pollock.

“Mark and Renny have been excellent caretakers of the Tanglewood Property,” commented Tom Scheetz, general manager of Tanglewood. This is such a special course with a rich history and an amazing layout. We are thrilled by the purchase and look forward to this important next chapter for Tanglewood.”

Joining Pollock in the venture is Matthew Creech, PGA Professional and Honorary President of the Northern Ohio PGA, who will oversee all Golf and Grounds operations. Creech and his wife, Jennifer, both PGA Class A Members, are currently the Owner/Operators of The Golf Dome in Chagrin Falls, which they acquired in 2022.

Similar to the revitalization of The Golf Dome, Creech and Pollock plan significant capital investments to enhance the golf course, clubhouse, and overall club experience. “The strategic alignment and synergies with The Golf Dome and Tanglewood will provide a truly unique year-round golf experience,” said Creech.

“We’re pleased that the future of The Tanglewood Club is in the hands of Scott and his team,” said Tiefel. “They have the vision and experience to take things to the next level.”

The Tanglewood Club

The Historic Tanglewood Club, nestled in a development near Routes 422 and 306 in Chagrin Falls, boasts a rich heritage as a former private club and a distinguished host of the 1972 PGA Tour’s Cleveland Open. With a renewed vision under the leadership of Scott Pollock and Matthew Creech, the club is poised to undergo an exciting transformation, promising elevated standards and a premier golfing experience for all.

Immediate improvements are on the horizon, with many of the projects to be completed prior to the start of the 2024 golf season. The commitment to revitalizing Tanglewood is a testament to Pollock’s and Creech’s dedication to the Chagrin Valley community and a strong desire to elevate the club’s stature within the golfing community. To that end, Tanglewood will serve as the official home course to the Chagrin Falls High School Men’s and Women’s golf teams.
