The Ohio Public Golf Association has cancelled all of its state events for 2020: the Ohio Public Links State Championship, the Ohio Public Links Mid-Amateur Championship, and the OPGA Senior Memorial Championship.
Statement from the OPGA:
The Ohio Public Golf Association, as an organization, has always striven to provide quality golf tournaments on some of Ohio’s best public courses for 92 years. Unfortunately, we are in unprecedented times. The OPGA Board of Directors have discussed the current situation and come to a decision on our upcoming 2020 tournament schedule:
ALL 2020 OPGA EVENTS HAVE BEEN CANCELLED EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY
This was not an easy decision, but the safety of our volunteers, participants, and spectators is of our utmost concern. It was for this sole reason that the decision was made to cancel our 2020 events. We will focus on building toward a stronger 2021 season.
If you have sent in an entry form with a check or credit card number, those applications and payments will not be processed and will be shredded/destroyed.
An open statement from the OPGA to participants:
We understand your frustration and know that some of you may not agree with the decisions we have made. We will never take lightly the ramifications of cancelling an event, let alone an entire season of events. This is truly a first for everyone involved. With that said, we are dedicated to making sure we come back even stronger in 2021. We hope that you respect our decision and stay connected to our organization, as we sincerely value your participation in our events.
Thanks,
OPGA Board of Directors
