FIVE NOPGA MEMBERS TO PLAY IN NEXT WEEK’S 57TH PGA PROFESSIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP IN FRISCO TX
By virtue of their finish in a local qualifier in 2023 five members of the Northern Ohio Professional Golfers Association will compete in the 57th Professional Championship on April 28-May 1 at Fields Ranch in Frisco, Texas.
The five are Jason Carbone, head professional at Canterbury Golf Club; Jim Troy, instructor at The Golf Dome; Steve Mulcahy, head professional at Shawnee Country Club; Jaysen Hansen, head professional at Toledo Country Club, and Rob Moss, head professional at the Pepper Pike Club.
Carbone was the medalist in last year’s NOPGA Professional Championship at Tippecanoe Country Club in Canfield, where he earned a one-shot victory with rounds of 71-70-74=215, one-under par. Troy (74-71-71=216) was second, followed by Mulcahy (75-71-72=218), Hansen (71-74-74=219) and Moss (71-75-74-220).
More than 300 professionals have entered the event to be held on the PGA of America’s two courses in Frisco. Total prize money is $550,000.
This will be the 13th appearance in the national event for Moss while Hansen will make his 11th. It is the eighth appearance for Troy, seventh for Mulcahy and fourth for Carbone.
