For the second consecutive year, the Northern Ohio PGA Junior Tours have captured the Joe Haase Cup!
The Joe Haase Cup is a team competition between the four major Junior Golf Tours across Northern Ohio: Northern Ohio PGA Junior Tours, Lake Erie Junior Golf Association, North Coast Junior Tours, and Southwest Junior Golf Tour. Each team is represented by 24 of their top Juniors who compete in a Ryder Cup style match play tournament.
Final points earned:
NOPGA – 35
North Coast – 25
Southwest – 25
Lake Erie – 11
Squaring off in 8 matches against each of the other tours, the Northern Ohio PGA went 18-5-1, earning them 35 total points, and beating the two second place teams of South West Junior Golf Tour and North Coast Junior Tour by 10 points. The NOPGA bested their team total from last year of 32 points.
The Northern Ohio PGA Junior Tours were represented by: Shane Hoben, Paul Ryee, Ben Jones, Harrison Vonderau, Donavan Ray, Mark Schlabach, Zak Supelak, Ken Keller, Kasey Nielsen, Kelly Nielsen, Kory Nielsen, Gabby Minor, Jared Wilson, JT Forster, Cole Christman, Cade Kreps, Miles DeMuesy, Mike Schnur, Paul Harris, Adam Filo, Jennifer Wang, Ashley Au, Mark Dilling, and Colton Levey.
Collecting wins and earning two team points for the NOPGA were: Shane Hoben 3&2, Ben Jones 5&4, Harrison Vonderau 3&2, Mark Schlabach 2&1, Zak Supelak 3&2, Ken Keller 8&6, Kasey Nielsen 8&6, Kory Nielsen 7&6, Jared Wilson 2&1, JT Forster 3&2, Cole Christman 4&3, Cade Kreps 7&6, Miles DeMuesy 7&6, Mike Schnur 4&3, Jennifer Wang 2&1, Ashley Au 9&8, and Colton Levey 8&7.
Coming back from being 3 down with 4 to play, Donavan Ray earned one team point by Halving his match.
Next year’s event will take place at Firestone CC on Mother’s Day 2016.
