The Northern Ohio PGA (NOPGA) is accepting participants for its six Junior PGA Championship Qualifier events. Each event is open to boy and girl golfers ages 13-18 who have not started college, nor will turn 19 before the start of the 2014 National Junior PGA Championship, on July 29.
2014 Qualifier Dates and Locations:
May 24 at Riceland Golf Course in Orrville.
May 31 at Mill Creek Golf Course in Boardman.
June 5 at Avon Oaks Country Club in Avon.
June 6 at Stone Oak Country Club in Holland.
June 9 at Fox Meadow Country Club in Medina.
June 12 at Ellsworth Meadows Golf Course in Hudson.
Top boy and girl finishers from each qualifier event will earn the opportunity to compete in the Section Championship June 23-24 at Shady Hollow Country Club, in Massillon.
The top boy and girl finishers at the Section Championship will go on to represent the section in the national Junior PGA Championship at Miramont Country Club in Bryan, Texas, Jul. 29-Aug. 1, 2014.
The 2014 Championship also serves as the final qualifying event to make the 2014 U.S. Junior Ryder Cup Team, which will compete Sept. 22-23, at Blairgrowire Golf Club in Perthshire, Scotland.
“The Junior PGA Championship has been a stepping stone to both collegiate and professional careers for many of golf’s past and current performers,” said Dominic Antenucci, Executive Director of the Northern Ohio PGA. “Our section’s qualifying events offer area golfers a tremendous opportunity to test their capabilities against the area’s, and hopefully, nation’s best.”
