Joey Bussdieker from Highland Meadows Golf Club, Glenn Cunningham from Silver Lake Country Club and Mike Stone from Fallen Timber Fairways are competing in the National Car Rental PGA Assistant Championship October 30-November 2.
Each of them qualified to represent the Northern Ohio PGA Section at the Northern Ohio PGA Assistant Championship at Shawnee Country Club this past September.
For the 19th consecutive year, PGA Golf Club in Port St. Lucie, Florida, will host the National Car Rental PGA Assistant Championship, a National Championship for 132 PGA assistant professionals and apprentices. The 2014 Championship will be held Oct. 30 – Nov. 2.
The 2014 field will feature three of the top four finishers from last year’s Championship, as well as 128 players who advanced through their PGA Section Championships. If eligible, the 2014 Champion earns a spot in the 48th PGA Professional National Championship, June 22-25, 2015, at the Philadelphia Cricket Club.
For nearly 40 years, the National Car Rental PGA Assistant Championship has produced outstanding PGA Professionals who have gone on to successful careers in teaching and administering the game, as well as competing at the highest level. Past competitors or champions include: Loren Roberts (Champion, 1979); Fred Funk (Champion, 1984); Rich Beem (third, 1998); and Tim Thelen (Champion, 2009).
