JUNE 2024 UPDATES: NOGA Match Play Championships

The 2024 NOGA Season-Long Match Play Championships are in full swing!

The Round of 32 for The Great Lakes Auto Scratch Individual Match Play ended on Father’s Day. The following Sunday, the Round of 64 for the Sikich Net Individual Match Play and the Round of 16 for the Great Lakes Auto Four-Ball Match Play were also completed.

In the final two match play brackets, the Round of 64 for the Sikich Net Four-Ball Match Play and the Round of 32 for the Old-Pal Four-Ball Match Play were completed on June 9. The following rounds for these two brackets are currently underway until June 30.

Two deadlines are approaching this upcoming Sunday: the Sikich Net Four-Ball Round of 32 and the Old-Pal Net Four-Ball Round of 16, both of which require results by June 30.

 

Great Lakes Auto Scratch Series Stroke Play Bracket

All of the top ten seeds have made it through to the round of 16 in the Scratch Championship Bracket. There are only two players still alive who are seeded over 16th: Greg Reece, the 20th overall seed, and Andrew Malkus, the 21st seed, who took an extra hole to survive and advance.

Great Lakes Auto Scratch Series Senior Stroke Play Bracket

The top-4 seeds in the Senior Division Bracket earned a bye from the Qualifier at Sand Ridge. Those four included Doug HauensteinTom Laubacher, Scott Saari, and Jim Durr. There was one forfeit in the first round, so there were only 11 matches played in the round of 32. Out of those eleven matches, three were won by the higher seed. The three players who completed upsets in the first round were Scott WinckowskiDavid Stover, and Joseph Kovach.

Sikich Net Stroke Play Bracket

The Net Stroke Play Bracket had 62 entries this season, with only the top two seeds receiving a bye in the first Round after qualifying. Those two were Gary Weinhauer, the #1 overall seed, and Jim Crandall, who earned the second seed in the bracket. The first Round of the Net Stroke Play Bracket included six upsets, with the most considerable upset coming from the 55th overall seed, Pat Tournoux, who upset the number 10 seed James Zebris 3&2. The rest of the top 10 seeds remain as we move to the Round of 32.

Great Lakes Auto Scratch Four-Ball Bracket

Only two of the top five seeded teams in the Championship Four-Ball Bracket have made it to the Quarterfinal Round. The number one overall seed of Griffin Todd and Garrett Frank showed no rust after their first-round bye, cruising to an 8 and 7 victory in their Round of 16 match. The team of Brian Smith and Doug Barber took down the #2 overall seed in the Bracket, winning their second consecutive match in the tournament by one hole.

Great Lakes Auto Senior Scratch Four-Ball Bracket

The Quarterfinals of the Senior Scratch Four-Ball Bracket are now officially set. The eight teams remaining in the Senior and Championship Brackets will have until Sunday, July 14, to complete their matches and claim their spot in the Semifinals. The #1 overall seed of Scott Winckowski and Mike Belacic 2&1 fell in the Round of 16 to Jon Nagy and Nick Bukovecky, who came off a Round of 32 match that went seven extra holes. There was only one other upset in the Round of 16, the 10th overall seed Mark Ciccarello and Walter Robinson, so we will see six of the top eight seeds in the Quarterfinals.

Old-Pal Net Four-Ball Bracket

The 2024 Old-Pal Bracket had 15 teams for this season’s edition of the Season Long Match Play, with the #1 seed of Eric Schaaf and Brady Schroeder receiving the only bye in the first round. This bye proved valuable as the #2 and #3 seeds fell in the first round, with Kevin McAfee and Aaron Kazan, as well as Joe Hobenseck and John Sizemore pulling off the 3&2 upsets to move onto the Quarterfinals. The eight teams remaining will have until Sunday, July 8th, to complete their matches.

Sikich Net Four-Ball Bracket

The Net Four-Ball Round of 32 will wrap up this Sunday, the 30th, with six spots in the Round of 16 still up for grabs. The Net-Four Ball Bracket has a few “Cinderellas” trying to make a deep run this season. The Bracket still has the 52nd, 46th, 34th, and 33rd overall seeds in the Round of 16, and there are still six spots to fill. As of today, the lowest seed that has made it to the Round of 16 is the 5th overall seed, Patrick Griffin and Cole Pittis.
