July Rounds Played Down for Greater Cleveland; Ohio Up Slightly

The number of golf rounds played in July 2019 were down -1.4% vs the number of rounds played in June 2018 for Greater Cleveland, but year-to-date those numbers are still positive against last year’s totals — barely.

Locally, rainfall in July was above last year’s monthly amount, especially concentrated in the Akron/Canton area. The city of Cleveland itself was actually under the rainfall amounts for July 2019.

Rounds played for the year through July are still up +0.5% overall for the Greater Cleveland area vs 2018, according to the latest report from Golf Datatech.

For all of Ohio, play figures are up +2.9% for June-to-June, and up +2.6% YTD 2019 vs 2018.

Regionally, Ohio is in “East North Central”. For that region, rounds played were dead flat for July, but down a tiny -0.1% for the year. So in essence, no change 2019 vs 2018.

Nationwide, overall rounds played are down -0.1% for July 2019 vs 2018, but down a more measurable -0.7% year-to-date.

August weather has been spectacular, so there is a good chance the numbers will turn in the next report…
