The groupings and starting times for the 36-hole June 4th Columbus, Ohio U.S. Open Sectional Qualifier have been released, and because it’s being played the week after the Memorial Tournament it’s a who’s-who of Tour players who aren’t exempt into the U.S. Open. But there are some recognizable Northeast Ohio golfer names sprinkled in as well:
– Chardon product Dwayne Randall is in the 8:00 a.m. group at the OSU Scarlet course, paired with Ricky Barnes;
– Tim Ailes from Lewis Center is in the 7:40 a.m. group starting at Scioto, playing with Bud Cauley;
– Jake Scott of Strongsville is in the Scioto 8:20 a.m. group with Australian Greg Chalmers.
Other notables in the field include: J.B. Holmes, Rocco Mediate, John Huh, Bryce Molder, Davis Love III, Ben Curtis, Stuart Appleby, Ryan Moore, Tommy Two-Gloves Gainey, Steve Flesch, Chris DiMarco, Steve Marino, Ryugi Imada, Mike Weir, Rory Sabbatini, Harrison Frazar, Henrik Stenson, D.A. Points, Charley Hoffman, Sean O’Hair, Mathew Goggin, Kevin Streelman, Johnny Vegas, Colt Knost, Matt Every, Jeff Overton, Ken Duke, Camilo Villegas, Jerry Kelly, Johnson Wagner, and about a dozen more guys with recognizable names from the PGA Tour and Nationwide Tour.
Might be worth a quick trip to Columbus to watch a free 36-hole Tour-quality shoot-out with a trip to the U.S. Open at the Olympic Club at stake…
