Golfweek released it’s three “Best Courses” lists for 2019 last night.
For Northeast Ohio, those lists were underwhelming, a complete miss, and some choices that might be up for debate.
For its Golfweek’s Best of 2019: Top 200 Modern Courses, Northeast Ohio didn’t have a single course on the list. Zero. A complete miss.
Northeast Ohio fared better on the Golfweek’s Best of 2019: Top 200 Classic Courses. But the best the region could pull was an underwhelming rank of #60. The rundown:
60. Canton Brookside
63. Canterbury
93. Kirtland
122. The Country Club
163. Firestone South
The final list put out by the magazine each year is the Golfweek’s Best of 2019: Courses You Can Play, a list compiled state-by-state. NEOH garnered six of the 10 Ohio courses that were ranked:
1. Manakiki
2. Fowler’s Mill
4. Boulder Creek
5. Sleepy Hollow
7. The Quarry
8. Little Mountain
When we posted this list last night to social media, it received a number of comments. Some questioned the courses selected, while others offered courses left off the list that should be there. Check out our Twitter and Facebook accounts for those discussions, then add your own opinions as you see fit…
How does Quarry get on there every year????
$$?????
Greens are not good.
A total “swing and a miss” by Golf Digest…….There are so many different kinds and styles of golf courses in NE Ohio to play and should be on this list both private and public.
