Whitehouse Anthony Wayne blitzed a highly-talented field on Saturday at the OSU Scarlet Course to win its first OHSAA state golf championship.
Playing in its fourth state tournament, Anthony Wayne shot a 308 on Friday to sit in fourth place after round one, four shots behind. But the Generals followed up with a sizzling 290 on Saturday, finishing seven strokes better than first-round leader Akron Archbishop Hoban.
Sutto’s score would have been the new OHSAA state tournament had it not been for the amazing effort turned in by Columbus St. Francis DeSales senior Vaughn Harber, who shot a new OHSAA boys state tournament record score of 69-66=135, beating Sutto by one shot.
