The team of Mike Simpson and Jim Krivanek turned the front nine with a respectable score of 31, then went to work on the back side at The Fairways at Twin Lakes on Sunday, in the June 2014 edition of the Twin Lakes 2-Man Scramble Series.
The pair made pars at 10 and 11, then ripped off five straight birdies on the tricky 12th through 16th holes. They closed out with a birdie at the last for a back nine score of 29 and a total of 10-under par 60.
That put Simpson and Krivanek two ahead of four-way log jam for second place at 8-under par 62, with those teams listed in the results below.
The big haul of the day was taken by Tim Morrow and Grifith Todd, who won the only skin of the 18 holes with an eagle on the par-5 12th. That solo skin netted them a whopping $1,800 because of the large field of 30 teams and the $30 per player skins game entry.
The $25 Double-Skins game (an aggregate score of each of the nine holes played twice) had just two winners, good for tidy $675 each paid to the team of Rob Schustrich / Chris Okeson and Josh Anderson / Clint Paxson.
Players in this event who are also members of the Akron District Golf Association will earn Golfer of the Year points, the list for which will be updated in the days ahead.
Also coming soon will be an update on the Twin Lakes Series Championship points race, where the top five players earn a season-long bonus payout with a $500 guaranteed to the winner.
