After starting bogey-bogey, Braden Herstich of Akron steadied the ship with birdies at holes four and five to take the lead at the turn, then held on for a two-stroke victory at the Ohio Golf Association’s 84th Ohio Junior Championship.
Herstich topped Robert Gerwin III of Cincinnati by two shots over the three-day, 54-hole stroke play tournament played at Squaw Creek Golf Course in Vienna.
Owen Heilmann of Galena finished as the low Age 15 & Under player, besting Ben Fauver of Hudson by two shots. Heilmann finished T3 overall.
The Ohio Junior Championship is one of 11 Ohio Junior Series events this year that allows players to accumulate points to qualify for Team Ohio, apart of the USGA National Developmental Program.
