The 2nd Annual Ohio Adaptive Open presented by the John T. Reis Foundation came to a close today after two inspiring days of golf and fellowship. All 39 competitors were able to finish both days of the tournament and were all smiles during the final trophy presentation on the 18th green. The adaptive golf community and the Ohio Adaptive Open are both growing rapidly, and the Northern Ohio Golf Association is proud to host this event.
The overall winner of the Men’s Division was Toledo native John Trenchik, who followed up his first-round 75 with a 76 on Sunday. After making no birdies on the first day, John was able to post two on his scorecard in Round 2 to propel him to a one-stroke win. John stated after the round that he did get more aggressive today than he was the first day, which was the difference for him. This was John’s first time playing in the OAO, and he was so glad to see a great turnout in all of the different divisions and raved about how beautifully the event was run.
In the Women’s Overall Division, Sophia Howard was able to secure a 12-stroke victory over the next closest player. Sophia was able to top her Saturday score by three strokes, including a birdie on the second hole. Sophia stated after the round that she was pleased with how her course management improved after the second day. Howard was able to avoid the bunkers, which gave her some issues on the first day, and was also able to adjust to the greens following the first day. When asked what playing in tournaments like the OAO means to her she stated that she was grateful for the opportunity and enjoys being able to compete.
