Despite a rain delay in the late afternoon yesterday that delayed play of round one, it was an exciting weekend at Ashland Golf club for the first 36-hole junior event of the 2022 season. The Ben Curtis Golf Academy was a supporting sponsor of the event and provided logoed t-shirts to all the participants.
The most exciting part of the weekend occurred when Stow’s Austin Wilhoit made the first hole in one of his career on the third hole with a 5-iron from 181 yards.
In the Boys 16-19 division, Stow’s Dylan Dunn shot 75-69 to claim the title, capped off by an eagle on his final hole of competition when he holed out from forty yards. Coming in second place was Carter Mishler with 77-72 (+5) while Dillon Pendergast shot 77-73 (+6) to beat out Ben Scheef in a scorecard playoff for third place.
In the Boys 11-15 division, Sam Fauver shot rounds of 79-78 (+13) to win by seven shots over Kevin Dang who shot 82-82 (+20).
In the Overall Boys Division (ages 11-19), Dylan Dunn claimed first place, Carter Mishler claimed second place, and Dillon Pendergast finished third.
In the Girls 16-19 division, Ashland’s Klaira Paramore shot rounds of 84-79 (+19) to tie North Canton’s Grace May who shot rounds of 81-82 (+19). In a scorecard playoff, Klaira took home first place while Grace took home runner-up honors. Coming in third place was Siena Maschke who shot rounds of 83-81 (+20).
In the Girls 11-15 division, Isabella Anderson shot 79-84 (+19) to win by ten shots over Aurora’s Gracyn Vidovic who shot 88-85 (+29). Coming in third place was Hannah Lee from Strongsville who shot rounds of 89-95 (+40).
In the Overall Girls Division, Klaira Paramore finished first, Grace May finished second, and Isabella Anderson finished in third place in a scorecard playoff.
This event also counted as a qualifier for the Notah Begay Regional Tournament at Mill Creek Golf Course on July 11-12 for the boys and June 27-28 at New Albany Golf Club.
The next stop on the NOPGA Junior Tour is May 28th at Riceland Golf Course.
