Today the Final Round of our 36 Hole Junior Championship took place at Windmill Lakes Golf Club in Ravenna. We are incredibly thankful to be hosting this Championship here at Windmill, as our tour players have loved playing here year after year. The course was in excellent condition, and the players all seemed to have a wonderful time these past two days.
Today at Windmill, we awarded the first, second, and third place Champions in each age group as well as the Overall Champion for the Boys and Girls divisions.
In our Girls Division, Grace May won the Overall Girls Division as well as her respective age division. When interviewed today, May claimed that her most memorable moment from the two days was starting off her first round yesterday with back to back birdies. In second place in the Girls 16-19 Division, McKenzie Gustas showcased two solid rounds at 75-76. Hannah Higgins took home third as she had an awesome final round today finishing with 80-73. In the Girls 11-15 Division, Sherry Du won her division with a solid 36 hole score, 80-77 over the two days. In second place, Zoe Mort came in with 80-79. In third, Ava Kemp finished with 78-82.
In the Boys Division, Ajay Morris won his respective age division as well as taking home the Boys Overall Champion trophy. Morris played two great rounds coming in at 65-71. Morris and Kyle Smith, who came in second place per the Boys division and first in his respective age division, went into a playoff after both boys came in with a total of 136 for the two days. Morris won the playoff on the second playoff hole with a two-putt par. Smith did go home today with the Championship trophy in the 16-19 Division as mentioned previously. In second place in this division, Dean Upholzer came in with 69-73. Third place went to Braden Herstich, who shot 70-74. In the Boys 11-15 Division, second place went to Jackson Pinney who shot two solid rounds consisting of 74-75. In third place, Charlie Pollock came in with 77-73.
We would like to thank Herb Page, PGA as well as Michael Maxwell for allowing us to host this Championship here at Windmill Lakes. Our tour players as well as our staff greatly enjoyed their time here at Windmill over the last few days.
