After dodging rain off and on all day at Portage Country Club for the second round of the NOPGA’s 2022 Junior PGA Section Championship, four juniors qualified for the national 2022 Junior PGA Championship.
In the Boys Overall and Boys 16-18 Division, Chris Pollak defeated Dean Upholzer after a grueling four-hole playoff in the rain. Chris and Dean both shot rounds of 71 (+1) at Westfield Country Club’s South Course followed by 71 at Portage Country Club. With their play, Dean and Chris qualified for the Junior PGA Championship, held August 2-5 at Cog Hill Country Club.
In the Boys 11-15 Division, Daniel Gambone shot rounds of 75-73 (+7) to win his division.
In the Girls Division, Chloe Tarkany won the overall and 16-18 division by six strokes over Ella Wong. Chloe shot rounds of 73-70 (+1) while Ella shot rounds of 76-73 (+7). Both qualified for the Junior PGA Championship at Cog Hill Country Club.
In the Girls 11-15 Division, Cammy Reed shot 76-78 (+12) to win by two strokes over Dixon Hill (+14).
The Northern Ohio PGA Junior Tour travels to the Catawba Island Club on June 8th for the next junior tour event. The results from the Junior PGA Section Championship are below:
