A top contender in each division played far better than the rest of the field in Monday’s finale, and those two players cruised to the title at the Northern Ohio Golf Association’s 2020 Great Lakes Auto Tour Championship.
In the Championship Division, Michael Klaric III shot a 1-over par 71 from the back tees on the South Course at Firestone to earn a six shot victory over first round leader Doug Barber. In Sunday’s first round, Klaric posted 69 to Barber’s 67, but by the fourth hole on the South Course on Monday, Klaric had the lead and never looked back. Klaric lipped out his par chip at the last to finish the 36-holes at even par 140.
In the Senior Division, Tom Jereb began the final round in a four-way tie at 71 after Sunday’s first round. But he crushed the hopes of the rest of the field as he shot 3-under par 67 on the South, winning by a whopping seven shots. Jereb’s two round total was 2-under par 138. Mark Guadagni earned runner-up honors with 145.
