COLUMBIA STATION, Ohio – Dick Mast of Forest, Virginia played 39 holes at Columbia Hills Country Club without making a bogey en route to his fourth victory on the Sunbelt Senior Professional Golf Tour.
After he tied at eight under par 134 with Jack Ferenz of Vero Beach, Fla., in the third annual Cleveland Senior Open, Mast birdied the third playoff hole with birdie-2 for the win.
They had halved the first two extra holes with par-4s and par-5s.
Mast shot 66-68 with five birdies Tuesday and three on Wednesday. Ferenz opened with 63 to lead Mast by three shots halfway through, with six consecutive birdies starting at the seventh hole. But he bogeyed three of the last four holes Wednesday, Nos. 15, 17 and 18. In 36 holes, Ferenz had 13 birdies and 5 bogeys.
Mast earned $4,000, Ferenz $3,500, from the $17,500 purse.
