Tim Conley of Braselton, Ga., was the only player to break 70 in two days at Signature of Solon Country Club, and it lead to a five-stroke victory Friday, Aug. 3rd in the Sunbelt Senior Tour’s Buckeye Open.
Conley shot 71-67—138 finishing with five birdies and a bogey on his last seven holes. In 36 holes, he made 10 birdies and four bogeys.
It marked Conley’s first victory on the Sunbelt Senior Tour since July, 2017 when he topped off a run of three wins in four mid-summer starts. Conley has nine wins since October, 2013, on the 47-and-older golf tour. He earned $2,500 from the $6,500 purse in the inaugural Buckeye.
Tied for second place at 143 among 11 starters were Gary Trivisonno of Aurora, Ohio, 73-70 with seven birdies and six bogeys; and Grant Downey of Sand Springs, Okla., 72-71—143 on six birdies and five bogeys. Each received $1,250
The Sunbelt Senior Tour remains in the area for the third annual Cleveland Senior Open Monday through Wednesday Aug. 6-8th at Columbia Hills CC in Columbia Station.
