The Northeast Ohio Girls fared well on Saturday at the Division II Girls State Championships held at The Ohio State University Grey Course.
The Independence girls golf team (above), led by Michigan recruit Sophia Trombetta (left) finished as runner-up, four strokes behind State Champion Milan Edison. Trombetta finished 3rd overall with a 2-over par 142 for the tournament, earning All-Ohio honors.
Amanda Baker of Brooklyn finished in eighth place, and also earned All-Ohio honors with a 155 for the weekend.
Beaumont’s Erin Adams finished in eleventh narrowly missing All-Ohio.
Cloverleaf (above) received a season tying best of an 82 from McKenna Jordan and the Colts finished fifth in their first appearance in Columbus.
The medalist of the tournament was Eaton’s Sarah Willis who set a tournament record with a two day total of a 4-under par 136.
The other highlight on the day came from Sophmore Morgan Heitkamp of Versailles, whom aced the fourth hole.
