Casey Schrader, PGA Assistant Professional at The Pepper Pike Club, won the Northern Ohio PGA Professional Championship, August 24-26, 2015 at Beechmont Country Club.
With his victory, Schrader will lead seven Section PGA Professionals to compete in the 49th PGA Professional Championship, June 26-29, 2016, at Turning Stone Resort in Verona, New York.
Schrader turned in a winning total of 205 (-8) to capture his first Northern Ohio PGA Professional Champion title.
Chuck Radabaugh, PGA Head Professional at Stone Oak Country Club, was runner-up, finishing at 214.
They are joined by Rob Moss, Pepper Pike Club; Gary Robison, Brookside Country Club; Jaysen Hansen, Beechmont Country Club; Mitch Camp, Club Walden, and Jamie Broce, University of Toledo in qualifying for the national championship.
The PGA Professional Championship will mark its second visit to Turning Stone Resort and first since 2006. The Championship brings together a field of 312 contestants representing the PGA of America’s 41 nationwide Sections. The Championship will be contested on the Atunyote Golf Club and the Shenendoah Golf Club. Atunyote (pronounced “uh-DUNE-yo”), which will host the final 36 holes of the Championship, was the site of the former Turning Stone Resort Championship (2007-10) on the PGA TOUR. Both courses have hosted former PGA Regional Professional and Section Championships. Turning Stone also boasts a third championship course, Kaluhyat Golf Club.
The PGA Professional Championship, carrying a $550,000 total purse this year, is broadcast (all four rounds) by Golf Channel. Following 36 holes of play, the field will be trimmed to the low 90 scorers and ties, and following 54 holes of play, the field will be trimmed to the low 70 scorers and ties. The low 20 scorers in 2016 will earn berths into the 98th PGA Championship, July 28-31, 2016, at Baltusrol Golf Club in Springfield, New Jersey.
