CASEY SCHRADER CAPTURES NATIONAL CAR RENTAL NORTHERN OHIO PGA ASSISTANT CHAMPIONSHIP
Casey Schrader, assistant at The Pepper Pike Club, won the National Car Rental Northern Ohio PGA Assistant Championship on Tuesday, September 8 at Oberlin Golf Club in a playoff over Chris Walsh of Cleveland.
By winning, Schrader qualified for the 39th National Car Rental PGA Assistant Championship, Oct. 29 – Nov. 1, at PGA Golf Club (Wanamaker Course) in Port St. Lucie, Fla. The facility will be hosting its nineteenth consecutive PGA Assistant Championship.
Schrader, 28, posted a final-round 72 for a tournament total of 138 and a playoff victory. Schrader becomes the fifth Northern PGA Section Member to win both the Section Championship and the Section Assistants Championship in the same year, joining Gary Trivisonno in 1990, Jim Brothers in 1992, Dwayne Randall in 2006 and Todd Lancaster in 2007.
The 132-man field for this year’s 39th edition of the national PGA Assistant Championship consists of the top-4 finishers from last year’s Championship plus assistants and apprentices from a weighted average of total entries of the 41 PGA Sections.
