It is said that the tournament begins on the back nine on Sunday, and that was the case for the final round of the inaugural 2014 Yuengling Tuscarawas County Championship at Zoar Village Golf Course.
Caine Bricker from Newcomerstown, entered the day one stroke behind first round leader Eric Crone. Aaron Shanklin was two back. By the time they got to No. 10, Bricker was up one and Crone and Shanklin were tied. Caine birdied 10, 11, 14 and 17 and posted a two under par 34 to take home the Champions Cup. Shanklin and Crone tied for second place 3 strokes off of Bricker’s 146.
Randy Gonter posted a two day total of 161 to nip Mark Waller by a stroke to take the 2nd Flight Championship. Taylor Enama and Paul McAbier tied for third at 163.
The Third Flight featured one of the tournament’s great comebacks. Scott Sole was two strokes out of the lead to start, but again the back nine was where he separated from the field. His even par 36 was second best for the entire field and he took home the flight’s Champions trophy. Vince Amicone was second at 163, five behind Sole. There was a tie for third place as Dave Miller and Dan Hostetler had 171’s
