Westbrook Country Club proudly hosted the 86th Annual Ohio Senior Golf Association Championship August 14th & 15th. Each year, members of the OSGA from across the state of Ohio gather at the spectacular Donald Ross Designed Westbrook Country Club in Mansfield Ohio to vie for the Ritter Trophy in the 36 hole stroke play championship. Westbrook Country Club proudly had 17 members representing their home course all trying to take home a win.
Runner up honors went to Dick Patrick from Pickaway Country Club posting solid rounds of 76-75 for a two day total of 151.
Ralph Kelsay, Westbrook CC member, propelled by his opening round net 64, grabbed the overall Net championship with a score of 136(64-72) fending off fellow Westbrook member Bill Newdome who got hot in the final round shooting a net 66.
Gross and Net Champions were crowned in 6 Flights divided by age and are listed below.
There was an abundance of hole outs throughout the tournament. Round one yielded eagles by 79 year old Ken Haring (36 handicap) Holing out from 175 yards on the difficult par 4 14th and by 54 year old Larry Monica on the lengthy 385 yard par 4 15th holing out from the left trees with a 4 iron. Larry’s brother, 51 year old Jeff Monica, capped of the second round with a Hole in One on the Par 3 17th hitting 8 iron from 130 yards. This was Jeff’s 3rd career Hole in One. All three of these players are Westbrook Country Club members. Special Congratulations to Jeff Monica and the others.
