About Kenny Novak
Kenneth Novak loved the sport of golf. His accomplishments at the young age of 15 were so numerous that some intimated that he had the potential of being a professional golfer some day.
Success on the golf course was not a stranger to Kenny. Just before his death, he had taken second place in the Mohican Hills Junior Golf Tournament in Wooster. In 1978, 1981 and 1982, he was a finalist in the Plain Dealer Junior Golf Tournament, qualified for the world putting championship at Firestone Country Club in 1982, and was a junior club champion runner-up at Club Walden in 1981, as well as a junior and senior runner-up. He and his father, Richard, placed third in 1979, 1980 and 1981 at the Cleveland Athletic Club Father-Son Sports Day.
Kenny’s achievements were not limited to the golf course. From basketball, baseball and pole vaulting, to skiing, tennis and swimming, Kenny was an accomplished athlete.
Aurora was proud of Kenneth Novak. Teachers and coaches considered him a good, well-behaved student and promising athlete. His peers treasured his loyalty and friendship. The fact that Kenneth risked his life without hesitation in an attempt to save the life of a person drowning, speaks volumes of the impeccable character of a boy so young. Courage, determination and talent — just a few of Kenneth Novak’s many fine attributes.
