A field of 36 teams vied for a $10,000 purse with an added $1,800 in the side skins game at the Yankee Run 5-Man Scramble on Sunday April 25, 2010.
Everyone prepared for a day of terrible weather, but mother nature surprised the field with sunny, mild conditions. And in the end, it took a record low score to win.
The team of John Zitkovic, pro Tim Ailes, Kent Russell, Rich Miller and Lynn Martin shot an amazing 20-under par to win by a single shot. The veteran team amassed 4 eagles, 12 birdies, and only 2 pars for their record-setting winning score of 50.
As was stipulated prior to the start of the tournament, all ties were decided by a scorecard playoff beginning with the hardest handicapped hole and going forward. The following results reflect that rule:
1st John Zitkovic and Company 50 (-20) $4,000
2nd Bill Baloh and Company 51 (-19) $2,800
3rd Steve Blackburn and Company 51 (-19) $1,800
4th Bob Blaze and Company 51 (-19) $900
5th Dan Krauth and Company 52 (-18) $500
6th Adam Crisp & Co 52 (-18)
7th Terry Danko & Co 52 (-18)
8th Larry Nagy & Co 52 (-18)
9th Kevin Cook & Co 53 (-17)
10th Robert Hall & Co 53 (-17)
11th Frank Francia & Co 53 (-17)
In the skins game, there were 2 skins out, each skin worth $900:
Hole # 13 Par 4
Eagle 2 – Adam Crisp and Co. (sinking a 35 foot putt)
Hole # 16 Par 5
Double Eagle 2 – Robert Grotevant and Co. (hitting 6 iron from 160 yds)
Thanks to all who played! This year’s entered teams have the first opportunity to enter next year’s event, which will be played Sunday, May 1, 2011. Captains should email us to confirm.
